Black Out

Khaled Saeed, a 28-year-old Egyptian from the coastal city of Alexandria, was allegedly tortured to death at the hands of two officers who wanted to search him under the emergency law.

The story began on 7th June 2010 when Khaled Saeed went to his usual Internet cafe in Sidigaber …
Then two wild detective cops (Mahmoud Alfallah and Awaad Elmokhber) ambushed that cafe asking people for their IDs which is totally out of their authority and without legal permission.

Khaled did reject that way of inhumane treatment and consequently was attacked so viciously , was kicked in his chest and belly severely, and his skull was smashed with the marble bar before all people and witnesses in the cafe while Khaled was bleeding. 

Then savage cops abducted Khaled and put him inside the police vehicle to continue torturing him to death in the police station. Finally, they threw his corpse in the street to claim that he was attacked by some strangers in order to avoid responsibility. The cops were released few hours later and some protesters were arrested. 

Shocking pictures of Khaled Saeed's body, whose face is almost unrecognizable from the beating he received, at the hands of the Egyptian police and in public according to reports, has been posted on the internet.

On the 12th of June 2010 the department of media and public relations of the Egyptian ministry of interior issued a statement denying the content of the testimonies of eyewitnesses as well as reports by human rights organizations. The statement also claimed that Khaled Saeed was a "wanted criminal," with two convictions in absentia for theft and illegal possession of weapons, and that he had evaded his military service. It was claimed that Khaled had died of ASPHYXIATION after he swallowed a packet of drugs.

Khaled Saeed's death enraged many Egyptians, who went out on demonstrations protesting his brutal murder and demanding justice for Khaled and for his assassins to be judged - all the way up to the Minister of Interior, Habib El Adly.

This video is about a demonstration that took place on the 16th of June 2010 near Khaled's house in Cleapatra district in Alexandria.

It was shot by Mohamed El Hadidi with Canon 550D Rebel T2i and edited by Mayye Zayed using Adobe Premiere CS4 without any kind of color correction. And it is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 License.

حاوي - Hawi

حاوي " هو ثالث أفلام المخرج "إبراهيم البطوط" الطويلة بعد فيلمي إيثاكي 2005 وعين شمس 2008 . تم تنفيذ الفيلم بالكامل وبطاقم تصوير وممثلين جميعهم من الأسكندرية. يستكمل إبراهيم من خلال فيلم " حاوي " الإتجاه الذي كان قد بدأه في فيلميه السابقين في إنتاج أفلام ذات جودة مرتفعة ومنفذة بتكنولوجيا الديجيتال وبتكاليف إنتاجية منخفضة.

"Hawi" is the 3rd film by the Egyptian film director "Ibrahim El Batout" after his first feature film "Ithaki" in 2005 and the second "Ein Shams" in 2008. The film has been entirely made by a cast and crew from Alexandria. Like Ibrahim's previous two films, "Hawi" is a low budget film using a High Definition digital camera.

FUTUREYA

These 2 videos with some other videos were part of the interactive video art DVD project "FUTUREيA". It was a result of the interactive video art workshop lead by Renaud Vercey and Bruno Voillot with the help of Mohamed Youssef & it took place at the French Cultural Center of Alexandria in December 2009.

The workshop's theme was Memory and Futurism and about the creation of a interactive DVD dealing with the aesthetics of futurism within the city of Alexandria. The event was in the frame of 22° INSTANTS VIDEO Festival 2009 and RAMI

ملخص الفيلم:

قد تبدو مدينة القاهرة مدينة في خريف عمرها بكل ما فيها من سلبيات و إيجابيات و تناقضات .. و لكن من قال أن الخريف هو النهاية و ليس البداية فلولاه لما كان للبراعم ظهور و لما أزهرت الورود من جديد.

نسمة خريف هو فيلم تحريك قصير لكل من:

Synopsis:

Cairo may seem as a city in its autumn years with all its contradictions, negative attitudes and positive ones but who says that autumn is the end not the beginning? Without it flowers wouldn't have blossomed all over again.

أنا فودافون

"عفواً لقد نفذ رصيدكم" جاءني صوت سيدة في تليفوني المحمول قائلاً هذه العبارة التي أكرهها كثيراً و دائماً تأتي في أوقات غير مناسبة تجعلني أتسأل أين ذهب الرصيد!! على أي حال قررت أن أذهب لأشتري كارت شحن من المحل بجوار منزلي و عندما وصلت إلى باب المحل اكتشفت أنني نسيت النقود بالمنزل فعدت إالى المنزل على الفور لأحضرها و ذهبت مرة أخرى إلى المحل. طلبت من البائع أن يحضر لي كارت بخمسين جنيهاً على حسب ما أتذكر و أخذته و هممت بالرحيل و لكني ما ان وصلت إلى الباب قاطعني صوت الرجل قائلاً: "يا آنسة.. النقود" و حينها فقط تذكرت أنني لم أدفع له ثمن الكارت. أعتذرت له و دفعت النقود و عدت إلى منزلي لأكتشف أنني قد نسيت هذه المرة كارت الشحن نفسه عند البائع فذهبت مرة أخرى إليه أسأله عنه. و لكنه ما أن رآني حتى ضحك قائلاً: "لقد نسيتِ كارت الشحن هذه المرة" و أعطاني إياه. أخذته منه و وضعته في حقيبةِ يدي و عدت أدراجي و قد اعتمرني الخجل من ذاكرتي. و داخل المنزل كنت سعيدة أنني سأتمكن أخيراً من شحن تليفوني المحمول و أخذت أبحث عن هذا الكارت في الحقيبة و لكنني لم أجده فخطر ببالي أنني لم آخذه من البائع للمرة الثانية و أنه لا يزال بحوزته أو ربما سقط مني في الطريق. و في كلتا الحالتين كان يجب أن أتأكد أولاً قبل أن أذهب إلى البائع للمرة الرابعة. لم أجد مفر من أن أنظر إلى الأرض طوال الطريق بين منزلي و بين محل كروت الشحن أملاً في العثور على هذا الكارت المحسود. لم أعلم ماذا أقول للبائع عندما دخلت عليه و لم أعلم و لا أريد أن أعلم ماذا قال هو عني و لكن كل ما علمته أنني لم أنس الكارت عنده هذه المرة و أنه نصحني أن أبحث عنه جيداً و لكنني كنت على يقين أنه يريد أن ينصحني بأن أذهب إلى طبيب.

عدت إلى المنزل بخفيّ حُنَين, فلقد ضاعت الخمسون جنيهاً هباءاً و كنت سأظل أسمع العبارة المزعجة "عفواً لقد نفذ رصيدكم". طوال اليوم ظللت أبحث عن هذا الكارت في كل أرجاء المنزل و لكن دون جدوى. و في المساء كنت أحضر شيئاً من الحقيبة فوجدت حافظة النقود أمامي و تنبهت أنني لم أبحث بها فاختطفتها من الحقيبة و ما أن فتحتها حتى وجدته جالساً ملكاً بين النقود. فرحت فرحاً شديداً أن الخمسون جنيهاً لم تضع هباءاً حتى أنني من شدة فرحي نسيت أن أشحن تليفوني بهذا الكارت. فلقد كان غالياً علي هذا الكارت فتركته متربعاً على عرشه بين النقود حتى لا أعكر صفوه فيختفي مرة أخرى. تذكرت بعدها بيومين و أنا في الكلية أنني يجب أن أشحن التليفون عندما سمعت العبارة المزعجة مرة أخرى و فتحت حافظة نقودي لأحضر الكارت و يا ليتني ما فتحتها. لقد وجدت الكارت برتقالي اللون لشركة "موبينيل" و أنا تابعة لشركة "فودافون" و يعني هذا أنني أشتريت الكارت الخطأ بعد كل هذا العناء. و أتذكر يومها أنني أخذت أسأل كل من أعرفه في الكلية عن ما إذا كان تابع لشركة "موبينيل" و يريد أن يشحن بخمسين جنيهاً حتى وجدت شخصاً لا أذكر من هو الآن و إشترى مني أكثر كارت تعبت لشرائه. و أخذت أردد طوال اليوم الإعلان التليفزيوني الشهير "أنا فودافون" كإحدى المحاولات للحفاظ على ذاكرتي.
